Past Events

June 4th, 2005
The Chicago Lake Michigan Anglers Fishing Club in will once again be on hand at Duke O'Malley's "Kid's Only Fishing Derby."  Once again this years event will be held at Centennial Park (Lake Sedgwick) in Orland Park.  This years event marks the 18th year Duke has hosted this event, which is a testament of his commitment to the youth of our community.

Anyone wishing to help out at the derby is encouraged to do so.  Duke is also in need of volunteers to fill "goodie bags" for the kids.  As with last year, the Chicago Lake Michigan Anglers will be helping Duke get ready for this event by helping him stuff the "goodie bags" Thursday June 2nd at approximately 6:00 pm at The Edge Lounge in Midlothian. Come out and join us!!!

April 9th, 2005
The Chicago Lake Michigan Anglers Fishing Club in conjunction with the U.S. Coast Guard and The Edge Lounge will be conducting Spring Boat Inspections on April 9, 2005 behind the Edge Lounge at 4810 West 148th, Midlothian, Illinois from 10:00am till 1:00pm.

The boat inspections will be conducted free of charge, but participants are encouraged to make a charitable donation.  All proceeds will be donated to help support Duke O’Malley’s 18th Annual Kids Only Fishing Derby which will be held on Saturday June 4th, 2005 at Lake Sedgwick in Orland Park.

The boat inspections also coincide with Duke's "Let's Talk Fishing Show" which will be held at The Edge Lounge from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. The guest speaker for that show will be Scott Bullard from the Cook County Forest Preserve. The afternoon includes a free shore lunch and two rounds of raffle prizes with all proceeds going towards Duke's Fishing Derby.

June 5th, 2004

2004 Chicago Park District Mayor Daley’s Fish ‘N Kids
This is an annual event that introduces underprivileged inner city children to the love of fishing. This event is one of the most worthwhile events of it kind, thanks to the efforts of Bob Long, Jr., the Chicago Park District's "Fishing Boss."

Chicago Lake Michigan Anglers has been asked to participate this year by Bob Long of the Chicago Park District. Chicago Lake Michigan Anglers and Club President Tom C. Heher will be providing boats and rides for this event.

The 2004 Chicago Park District Mayor Daley’s Fish ‘N Kids is to take place at Montrose Harbor from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

A special thanks goes out to Bob Long Jr., the City of Chicago for the invitation to participate this year.

Duke O'Malley's Kids Only Fishing Derby.
This years event will be held at
Centennial Park (Lake Sedgwick) in Orland Park. Join Duke and 1,000 of his young friends for a day of family fishing. This event is in its 17th year.

As you may already know, the event was previously held at Tampier Lake, a Cook County Forest Preserve District Lake. Unfortunately, the CCFPD advised Duke that he would no longer be able to park cars on the grass, thus making it impossible for him to hold the event at that location.
The town of Orland Park deserves a big tip of the hat for stepping in and helping Duke make this event will go on.

The Chicago Lake Michigan Anglers will be helping Duke get ready for this event by helping him stuff 1,000 "goodie bags" Thursday June 3rd at approximately 6:00 pm at The Edge Lounge in Midlothian. Come out and join us!!!
